The cool temperatures and high humidity of the Sierra de las Minas create a unique microclimate, allowing coffee cherries to mature slowly, enhancing their sweetness and complexity. However, the region’s constant drizzle presents challenges for drying—challenges that Teo has overcome by constructing specialized polytunnels to maintain optimal drying conditions.
Teodoro “Teo” Engelhardt Ortega is a fourth-generation coffee farmer dedicated to producing exceptional coffee in the Sierra de las Minas region of Guatemala. As the steward of both Finca La Florida and Finca La Bella, Teo continues his family’s legacy, managing two of the most renowned coffee farms in El Progreso, Guatemala.
