A Delicate Blend

A blend with a rounded character and named after the famed Frank Dailey’s Meadowbrook in Cedar Grove, New Jersey, this coffee is delicate yet flavorful, without giving up any complexity. Balancing hints of salted caramel and fruit compote, it is wonderful as both a batch brew or pour-over.

Frank Dailey's Meadowbrook, Cedar Grove, NJ

Opened originally as Frank Dailey's Meadowbrook, Cedar Grove, NJ was a hot spot for the big bands of the 1940s.

In 1959 it reopened as one of the country's first dinner theatres, where the audience could have an evening of entertainment that would include dinner, dancing, and a show. Broadway performers like Van Johnson, Orson Bean, Dorothy Lamour, Eve Arden, and Ann Sothern appeared in shows like Gypsy, The Odd Couple, Guys and Dolls and Company.

When the theatre closed in 1980 it was used briefly as a club and hosted many modern performers such as Iggy Pop, INXS, Duran Duran, and even Frank Sinatra (47 times!)

Process

Washed

Elevation

1750-2000 masl

The washed coffee process is a method of processing coffee beans in which the outer layers of the fruit are removed before the beans are dried. This process begins by removing the outer layers of the coffee cherry, which reveals the green coffee beans inside. These beans are then placed in water tanks, where they are agitated to remove any remaining bits of fruit. The beans are then rinsed and left to soak for some time, during which any defective beans will float to the surface and can be removed. After the soaking period, the beans are drained and spread out to dry in the sun. Once the beans have dried to the appropriate moisture content, they are hulled to remove the remaining dried layers of fruit and are then sorted and packaged for shipment.
