Tasting Notes

Bright, Floral, Stonefruit, Peach

"Pompton Peach" is named after the main street that passes through Cedar Grove, NJ's downtown, and also happens to be the street we are located on. The "peach" part comes from just one of the glorious tasting notes provided by a cup of this exceptional single origin coffee.

We brew Pompton Peach every Sunday and Thursday and will be happy to do a pourover or sell whole beans of this gem daily.

What is a Light Roast?

Light roast coffee is often described as having a crisp and bright taste, with high acidity and a subtle sweetness. This type of roast is popular among coffee drinkers who prefer a lighter, more delicate coffee flavor that allows the natural characteristics of the coffee bean to shine through.

Pompton Peach is a light to medium roast.

Yirgacheffe Region

Yirgacheffe is a coffee-growing region in southern Ethiopia. It's located in the Gedeo Zone, which is known for its high-quality coffee beans. The region is home to a variety of microclimates, which contribute to the unique flavor of Yirgacheffe coffee.

Yirgacheffe coffee is typically described as having a bright, citrusy acidity, with floral and fruity notes. It can also have hints of chocolate, spice, and wine. The flavor profile can vary depending on the specific microclimate where the beans were grown, as well as the processing method used.

Kochere

Nestled within the renowned Yirgacheffe coffee-growing region of Ethiopia, Kochere stands as a small gem in the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples’ Region (SNNPR) in the southern part of the country. A mere stone’s throw south of Yirgacheffe and approximately 250 miles southwest of Addis Ababa, this enchanting locale is where the magic of Ethiopian coffee comes to life.

Kochere is adorned with washing stations, pivotal hubs where local farmers converge to process their carefully harvested coffee beans. The soil in this region is rich in iron, infusing a distinct character into the beans, while the high altitude adds an extra layer of excellence to the coffee-growing process. It is this combination of factors that makes Kochere an ideal haven for cultivating specialty coffee.

Known far and wide, the Kochere district has rightfully earned its reputation for yielding some of the most vibrant Yirgacheffe coffees in the entire region. With a commitment to quality and a terroir that nature has generously endowed, Kochere continues to be a beacon for coffee enthusiasts seeking a taste of the extraordinary in every cup.
