Caramel, Cherry, Cocoa
Red Bourbon is a natural mutation of the ancient Typica cultivar, first developed on Réunion Island (formerly Bourbon Island) in the Indian Ocean in the 1700s. It’s known for its sweet, smooth profile, vibrant red cherries, and excellent cup quality—especially when grown at high elevations.
Nestled along the slopes of the majestic Santa Ana volcano—also known as Ilamatepec—our Morgan's Mix El Salvadorian coffee benefits from one of the most unique and fertile growing environments in Central America. The volcanic soil here is rich in minerals like potassium and phosphorus, giving coffee trees the nutrients they need to thrive naturally. Combined with a high elevation of 1,200 meters, the cooler mountain air slows the maturation of the coffee cherry, allowing sugars and acids to develop more fully. The result? A coffee that delivers remarkable balance, with notes of chocolate, plum, and caramel wrapped in a silky, medium body.
The microclimate created by Santa Ana’s cloud forest adds an extra layer of magic. Gentle mists, shaded canopies, and afternoon breezes create the ideal conditions for producing clean, vibrant coffee while also supporting traditional, sustainable farming methods. Whether it’s a washed Bourbon or a honey-processed Pacamara, the coffees from this region are a direct reflection of the volcano’s natural rhythm—elegant, complex, and grounded in generations of craftsmanship.
